Deportivo demolish Compostela in one-sided friendly
SD Compostela offered little resistance as Deportivo de A Coruña came to Galicia and produced a clinical display of attacking football. The hosts struggled to find any rhythm or defensive stability from the opening whistle, and the visiting side punished them ruthlessly. What should have been a competitive friendly quickly developed into a one-sided affair that left the home supporters with little to cheer about.
Deportivo broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when T. Gijselhart found the back of the net to give the visitors an early lead. The goal set the tone for what was to follow, with Compostela unable to mount any meaningful response. Deportivo's dominance grew as the first half wore on, and they could easily have added to their advantage before the interval.
The second half saw Deportivo continue their stranglehold on proceedings. Z. Eddahchouri extended the away side's advantage in the 64th minute with another well-taken finish, effectively putting the match beyond doubt. Compostela's defence remained porous throughout, and Deportivo's attacking players found space with relative ease whenever they pushed forward.
The 0-4 scoreline represented a comprehensive victory for Deportivo and a reality check for Compostela ahead of the new season. For Deportivo, the result offers genuine encouragement as they prepare for the campaign ahead, having shown they can break down stubborn opposition with clinical finishing. Compostela will need to address significant defensive vulnerabilities quickly if they are to avoid similar heavy defeats when the competitive season begins.
