Nancy and Thionville Lusitanos share goals in friendly draw
Nancy hosted Thionville Lusitanos on a warm summer evening in what promised to be a useful workout for both sides ahead of their respective campaigns. The home team made the brighter start and moved into an early lead when they found the net in the fifth minute. The early goal gave Nancy confidence and they looked to build on that advantage as the match unfolded at a decent tempo.
The visitors refused to be overwhelmed and fought their way back into the contest. Nancy extended their lead just before the interval when they scored again in the 41st minute to establish what looked like a commanding position at 2-0. However, Thionville Lusitanos had other ideas and emerged from the break with renewed purpose, pulling one back in the 57th minute with a well-taken goal that set up a tense finale.
The momentum had shifted towards the away side and they pressed hard for an equaliser. Their persistence paid off when they scored a second goal in the 80th minute to level the match at 2-2. From that point, both teams had chances to find a winner but neither could make the breakthrough, and the match remained level.
The draw represented a fair result for both sides on the night, each having contributed entertaining football and proven their ability to compete. Nancy will take positives from their early dominance, while Thionville Lusitanos showed character in their comeback. Both teams will head into their next fixtures with plenty to work on as they prepare for the season ahead.
