Jeonbuk complete comfortable away victory at Ulsan

Share

Ulsan HD hosted Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors on a humid July evening with both sides looking to strengthen their position in the K League 1 title race. The home crowd created an energetic atmosphere, but it was the visitors who made the early running and created the first real attacking threat. Jeonbuk's approach was measured and patient, waiting for opportunities to strike on the counter.

The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when J. Kim opened the scoring for Jeonbuk, leaving Ulsan chasing the game earlier than they would have hoped. The goal seemed to deflate the home side's momentum, though they continued to push forward in search of an equaliser before the interval. Jeonbuk controlled much of the first half and looked comfortable in possession despite being ahead by just one goal.

Ulsan started the second half with renewed purpose and pressed higher up the pitch. However, their disciplinary record took a hit when D. Bojanić picked up a yellow card in the 53rd minute, a booking that seemed to irritate the home supporters. S. Lee then extended Jeonbuk's lead to 2-0 in the 60th minute with a composed finish that effectively settled the match. The away side's second goal came after Ulsan had been trying to break down their defence, and it represented a shift in momentum that favoured the visitors completely.

The closing stages saw Jeonbuk secure the three points without any real threat of an Ulsan comeback. J. Kim and D. J. Lee both received yellow cards as the match became scrappy, with Jeonbuk content to see out the win. This impressive away victory takes Jeonbuk level on points with several rivals and demonstrates their credentials as genuine challengers this season, while Ulsan will need to regroup quickly and find a way to bounce back in their next outing.
