Granada Claim Comfortable Victory Over Neom SC
Granada made light work of visiting Saudi side Neom SC in a one-sided friendly at Los Carmenes. The home crowd was treated to an efficient performance from the Spanish outfit, who controlled proceedings for large stretches and never allowed their opponents to settle into any meaningful rhythm. Neom offered little threat throughout the afternoon, struggling to impose themselves against a Granada side eager to build momentum in their pre-season schedule.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 29th minute when M. L. Maroto fired past Neom's goalkeeper to give Granada the lead they had been threatening. The goal came at a time when Granada had begun to find their range in attack, and it proved to be the catalyst for a dominant period that took them to the interval with a valuable advantage. Neom emerged for the second half looking to reduce the deficit, but they found little joy against a Granada defence that remained compact and vigilant.
Granada added a second goal to put the result beyond doubt when G. Gumbau struck in the 79th minute, effectively killing off any possibility of a comeback. The finish provided the home crowd with added satisfaction and allowed the final stages to be played out with Granada comfortable in control. Neom never threatened to make a game of it and the 2-0 scoreline accurately reflected the balance of the contest.
For Granada, this was a morale-boosting result ahead of their domestic campaign. The win showed they can navigate pre-season friendlies effectively and build cohesion among their squad. They will feel encouraged by this display as they prepare for more competitive action, while Neom will use the experience as a learning exercise in their own development.
