Olympic FC Dominant at Home Against Brisbane Roar Youth
Olympic FC made the perfect start at home, striking early through an unmarked finish in the 10th minute to set the tone for what would become a commanding performance. The home side controlled possession in the opening exchanges, and their aggressive setup had Brisbane Roar Youth under constant pressure. The visitors showed resilience though, pulling level with a well-taken goal in the 31st minute that briefly threatened to shift momentum in their favour.
The first yellow card of the afternoon fell to a Brisbane Roar Youth player in the 42nd minute as the visitors grew increasingly frustrated with Olympic's intensity. Olympic began the second half with renewed vigour, and their attacking quality eventually paid dividends when they restored their lead in the 73rd minute. Just four minutes later, they put the contest beyond doubt with a third goal in the 77th minute, capping off an impressive attacking display. Brisbane's task became impossible at that point, though Olympic's discipline slipped in the closing stages with multiple cautions issued to the home players in the 53rd, 57th and 71st minutes.
Olympic's dominance in the final third made the difference between the sides. They moved the ball with pace and precision, creating space for their attacking players while restricting the Brisbane Roar Youth outlet. The visitors worked hard throughout but lacked the cutting edge required to trouble Olympic's defence consistently after their equaliser.
The three points move Olympic FC further up the ladder in their quest for silverware this season. Brisbane Roar Youth will have opportunities to bounce back, but they showed they have a long way to go if they are to compete with the stronger outfits in the competition.
