Young Boys Demolish Carouge in One-Sided Friendly
BSC Young Boys made light work of their visitors from the lower divisions in a thoroughly dominant display at Stade de Suisse. The home side controlled proceedings from start to finish, creating space and opportunities at will against a Carouge outfit that offered precious little resistance. There was a relaxed tempo to the friendly, but Young Boys were clinical and efficient when it mattered most.
The opening goal arrived in the 30th minute when E. Fernandes broke the deadlock, giving the hosts the perfect platform to build on. Young Boys looked comfortable in possession and Carouge struggled to establish any meaningful presence in the attacking third. The visitors went in at half-time already facing an uphill task, and there seemed little prospect of a dramatic turnaround.
The second half proved to be a one-way affair as Young Boys simply added to their tally. S. Essende doubled the lead in the 56th minute before bagging his second of the evening 24 minutes later to make it 3-0. Two further goals came in quick succession as the match entered its closing stages, with strikes at the 90-minute mark sealing a 5-0 victory that did little to test Young Boys' credentials but served its purpose as a pre-season workout.
For Young Boys, this was the kind of confidence-building result that provides momentum heading into their competitive fixtures. Carouge will take little from the encounter but such mismatches are common in the early weeks of summer preparation. The hosts can move forward with positivity, though they will face considerably sterner tests in the weeks ahead.
