Shumansky's early goal gives Belarus victory over Finland

Belarus went ahead after just one minute when A. Shumansky found the back of the net. Finland had little time to settle and faced an uphill task from the opening moments.

The home side controlled much of what followed. G. Barkovskiy and A. Shumansky both picked up yellow cards in the 27th minute, while V. Bocherov was cautioned in the 38th. Finland offered some resistance but could not break through Belarus's defence. B. Källman was shown yellow for Finland in the 75th minute as the visitors pushed for an equaliser, and K. Pechenin received a booking for Belarus in the 83rd minute. Belarus held on to claim a 1-0 victory.
