Ferencváros dominates Vojvodina in Europa League qualifier
Ferencváros got off to a chaotic start when FK Vojvodina's K. Szűcs was sent off in the ninth minute, reducing the visitors to ten men early on. The red card proved decisive in shaping the contest, handing the home side a significant advantage in what was always going to be a competitive Europa League qualifier. With the numerical advantage, the Hungarian champions began to assert themselves on the pitch, though they took time to convert their superiority into goals.
L. Joseph broke the deadlock in the 27th minute with Ferencváros's opener, settling the home crowd and putting real pressure on Vojvodina's depleted defence. Just eight minutes later, K. Zachariassen doubled the advantage to put the tie firmly in Ferencváros's control at 2-0. The visitors offered little resistance from that point forward, and their task became virtually impossible as the gap widened. Z. Gruber added a third in the 71st minute to seal a comprehensive victory and kill off any prospect of a comeback.
Ferencváros controlled large periods of the match but never became complacent despite their commanding position. Cadu picked up a yellow card for the hosts in the 69th minute, while Vojvodina's I. Đakovac was also cautioned late on. The away side had battled hard in difficult circumstances but simply lacked the attacking threat to trouble the home defence.
The 3-0 victory sends Ferencváros through to the next qualifying round in impressive fashion. They will feel confident heading into their next fixture, having dispatched their opponents with comfort and efficiency. For Vojvodina, the early dismissal proved to be a mountain too high to climb on foreign soil.
