Krebs and Iliev secure home win for CSKA Sofia
FC CSKA 1948 Sofia made the perfect start at home against Botev Vratsa, taking the lead through F. Krebs in the 19th minute. The early goal set a positive tone for the hosts, who controlled much of the first half and looked to build on their advantage. Botev Vratsa offered little resistance in the opening stages, struggling to find their rhythm on the road.
The visitors grew into the match after the break and grabbed an equaliser through M. Petkov in the 63rd minute. What had looked like a comfortable afternoon for CSKA suddenly became competitive as Vratsa sensed an opportunity to claim something from the game. The momentum had shifted, with the away side pressing forward and creating problems for a CSKA defence that appeared to have lost its earlier composure.
CSKA regrouped and reasserted themselves down the stretch. A. Iliev restored the home side's lead in the 78th minute, a crucial strike that proved decisive. Despite Botev's continued efforts, they could not find another way through as CSKA held firm. M. Stoev picked up a yellow card in the 90th minute as tempers frayed, while four minutes of stoppage time failed to produce any dramatic late twist.
The final score of FC CSKA 1948 Sofia 2-1 Botev Vratsa gave the hosts a valuable three points and a morale-boosting victory. CSKA's ability to respond after going level showed character and composure when it mattered most. Vratsa will reflect on a missed opportunity to take something from the capital, but they competed well and made life difficult for their opponents.
