Bromley and Millwall Share Spoils in Friendly Encounter

Share

Bromley and Millwall served up an entertaining friendly fixture at Hayes Lane, with both sides looking sharp in their final preparations before the new season. The home crowd settled in for a keenly contested afternoon, and they were rewarded with a match that offered plenty of attacking intent from both teams. The visitors made the journey south in confident mood, and it quickly became clear this would be no ceremonial exercise between two south London neighbours.

The opening goal came late in the first half when Bromley's E. Archer fired his side into a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute. It was a deserved advantage for the hosts, who had edged the opening 45 minutes and looked dangerous going forward. The lead gave Bromley momentum heading into the interval, though Millwall would have been disappointed to go behind after a solid start to the match.

Millwall emerged with renewed purpose after the break and wasted little time making an impact. M. Servais levelled things up in the 57th minute, bundling the ball home to draw the sides level at Bromley 1-1 Millwall. From that point on, both teams traded chances and territory without either able to find a winner. The intensity remained high throughout the second half, but neither side could break the deadlock.

The draw represents a solid work day for both camps as they edge closer to competitive action. Bromley will feel they could have held on for victory, while Millwall can take heart from their second-half fightback and their ability to create openings. Both managers will have gained useful information from 90 minutes of competitive football before their league campaigns commence.
