Leganés and Albacete Play Out Goalless Draw
Leganés and Albacete Balompié served up a cagey affair at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque on a warm summer afternoon. With both sides preparing for the new campaign, there was little attacking intent on display during the opening stages. The friendly fixture had the feel of a typical pre-season encounter, with neither team willing to take undue risks as they worked through their preparations.
Neither side created clear-cut chances in the first half, with defences holding firm throughout the opening 45 minutes. Albacete's back line remained disciplined, frustrating Leganés's attacking players at every turn. The visitors were content to sit deep and make life difficult for the hosts, keeping their shape and limiting opportunities.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with neither team able to impose themselves decisively on proceedings. Both managers made alterations as the match wore on, using the contest to assess their squad options. Chances remained at a premium, and the goalkeepers on both sides had little to trouble them. The quality of football reflected the stage of pre-season preparation, with match fitness clearly still being worked on.
The 0-0 stalemate would serve both teams reasonably well as they continue their build-up work ahead of the season. For Leganés, a clean sheet offers something to build on, though they will want sharper finishing in their remaining friendlies. Albacete depart satisfied with a solid defensive display, knowing they can compete without conceding. Both clubs head back to the drawing board with plenty to work on before competitive football resumes.
