Kunze fires Lüneburg past Hamburg's U23 side
LSK Hansa Lüneburg dominated proceedings at home against Hamburger SV II U23 in what proved to be a productive pre-season outing for the hosts. The friendly atmosphere allowed both sides to work through their summer preparations, though it was clear from the outset that Lüneburg held the upper hand in terms of intensity and cohesion.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when M. Kunze found the back of the net to hand Lüneburg an early advantage. Hamburg's young side fought back admirably and managed to level the match through A. Puzzo in the 77th minute, setting up a tense finale. However, Lüneburg's quality shone through as they scored twice more in quick succession, with goals in the 83rd minute and a late finish at the 90-minute mark sealing a comfortable 3-1 win.
Lüneburg controlled large spells of the match and created chances at regular intervals, though Hamburg II showed glimpses of promise that suggest the HSV development squad has potential within their ranks. The visitors' equaliser provided a brief moment of encouragement, but they lacked the cutting edge to push for a genuine comeback once their hosts restored their lead.
The victory gives Lüneburg confidence heading into the new campaign and demonstrates their attacking prowess in the friendly environment. For Hamburg II, the defeat offers valuable lessons ahead of their competitive fixtures, though a friendly of this nature represents good preparation for the challenges ahead.
