Tenerife deliver devastating away display against Marino
CD Marino offered little resistance as CD Tenerife ran riot at their stadium on Saturday afternoon. The hosts started poorly and never recovered, with the visitors establishing total control from the opening exchanges. What unfolded was a masterclass in clinical finishing and defensive organisation from the away side, who punished every opportunity that came their way.
The rout began early when G. Ranos broke the deadlock in the tenth minute, giving CD Tenerife an ideal platform from which to build. Marino struggled to mount any meaningful response and looked increasingly fragile as the first half wore on. By the interval, the visitors had seized the initiative and looked capable of extending their advantage significantly in the second period.
CD Tenerife duly delivered after the restart. V. Moreno doubled the lead in the 50th minute before adding his second just seven minutes later to make it 0-4. An own goal or strike from an unidentified player in the 62nd minute pushed the scoreline beyond doubt at 0-6. Marino's defenders had been picked apart repeatedly, and their goalkeeper faced an impossible task as wave after wave of attacks came his way. The home side's lack of cohesion and intensity contrasted sharply with their opponents' hunger and precision.
This was a sobering afternoon for CD Marino, who will need significant improvement if they are to mount a credible challenge this season. CD Tenerife, meanwhile, will take considerable confidence from this display. The away victory suggests they possess the quality and consistency needed to compete at the highest level, and they will carry this momentum into their competitive fixtures ahead.
