Charleroi Edge Past Seraing in Friendly Encounter
Charleroi and Seraing met at Stade du Pays de Charleroi on a warm summer's evening as both Belgian sides continued their preparations for the new season. The friendly fixture drew a modest crowd keen to see how their teams were shaping up during the pre-season period. There was a relaxed atmosphere befitting a warm-up match, though both sides showed enough quality to suggest they had been putting in the work during their training camps.
RFC Seraing struck first when they found the back of the net in the 30th minute, taking an early lead against their hosts. Charleroi would have been disappointed to fall behind, but they steadied themselves and began to build some momentum as the first half wore on. The home side looked to assert greater control as the match progressed, gradually getting into their rhythm and creating chances to level the scoring.
The turning point came in the final ten minutes of the match. Charleroi levelled proceedings with a goal in the 80th minute, pulling themselves level and shifting the momentum firmly in their favour. They pressed for a winner and got their reward when another goal arrived right at the death on 90 minutes, sealing a 2-1 victory and a successful evening for the home side.
The result gives Charleroi confidence heading into their competitive fixtures, having shown character to come from behind and secure the win. Seraing will take the positives from their opening period but will know they need to tighten up defensively. Both sides now move forward with their preparations as the new campaign draws closer.
