Malen Hat-Trick Demolishes Fiorentina in Roma Rout

AS Roma delivered a statement performance to kick off their Serie A campaign, dismantling Fiorentina with clinical finishing and control. The home side imposed their rhythm from the opening exchanges, pressing high and forcing the visitors into uncomfortable positions throughout the first half.

Donyell Malen broke the deadlock in the 27th minute, capitalising on a loose Fiorentina defence to give Roma an early lead. The Dutch winger's composure in front of goal set the tone for a sustained assault. Roma's attacking threat multiplied as the half wore on, and though Fiorentina offered resistance, they struggled to generate meaningful chances of their own.

The second half saw Roma shift into another gear entirely. Malen doubled his tally just seven minutes after the restart, striking in the 52nd minute to extend Roma's dominance. When the same player completed his hat-trick eight minutes later in the 60th minute, the contest had effectively been decided. Fiorentina offered little resistance, with their defensive frailties laid bare by a Roma side that moved the ball with precision and purpose.

Roma's midfield controlled the tempo throughout, dictating play from start to finish. Fiorentina never threatened seriously in response, caught between defending their crumbling backline and attempting to build anything constructive going forward. The visitors' shape deteriorated as the match wore on, particularly after falling further behind following Malen's second goal. By the final stages, Roma coasted through without serious alarm.

Yellow cards for Nicola Fagioli and Mateo Pellegrino left Fiorentina having to manage their discipline carefully, though neither caution proved decisive in a match decided by Roma's overwhelming superiority. Alessio Hermoso and Medy Koné received cautions for the hosts, maintaining their control without requiring harsh measures. The closing stages featured Roma managing the game professionally, content to keep possession and see out a comprehensive victory.

This rout sends a clear message from Roma's leadership that they intend to challenge seriously this season. Fiorentina have plenty to address before their next fixture, with this defensive capitulation demanding urgent attention from their coaching staff.
