Abraham Brace Sends Aston Villa Past Coventry in Cup

Aston Villa made a strong start and went ahead in the seventh minute when T. Abraham finished after G. Hemmings set him up. Coventry City pulled level in the 27th minute through V. Torp, but the visitors restored their lead before half-time. R. Barkley scored in the 40th minute with I. Mbaye providing the assist, putting Aston Villa 1-2 up at the break.

The away side extended their advantage in the second half. T. Abraham added his second goal in the 59th minute, assisted by R. Barkley, to make it 1-3. Coventry City could not find a way back into the match, and Aston Villa held on for a 1-3 victory over Coventry City.
