Könkkölä shines as Turku cruise past Oulu
Turun Palloseura made a lightning start to their home fixture against AC Oulu, with the crowd in full voice from the opening moments. The hosts came out with purpose and intent, pressing high and forcing their visitors into early mistakes. It took just nine minutes for that dominance to register on the scoreboard when M. Könkkölä broke the deadlock with a clinical finish. Turku's momentum was irresistible, and they doubled their advantage within seven minutes as A. Muzaci made it 2-0, leaving Oulu with plenty to think about before the quarter-hour mark.
AC Oulu struggled to gain any foothold in the contest during the opening exchanges. S. Silander picked up a yellow card in the 24th minute as the visitors' frustrations grew. Turku controlled the tempo and moved the ball with purpose, stretching Oulu's defence at every opportunity. The third goal came at the worst possible time for the away side, with Könkkölä adding his second of the match just before the break to make it 3-0 and effectively end the contest.
The second half saw Turku manage the game rather than dominate it, allowing Oulu to enjoy more possession without ever threatening seriously. N. Jokelainen was booked in the 64th minute as the visitors struggled to create anything of substance. Turku remained compact and organised, content to see out the comfortable advantage they had built. The home side's defensive shape never wavered, and Oulu's attacking players found little space to operate.
This comprehensive victory gave Turku's supporters plenty to celebrate and represented a strong statement of intent in the Veikkausliiga title race. Könkkölä's two-goal haul showcased his quality as a finisher, while the team's overall performance demonstrated the efficiency of their build-up play. Oulu will need to regroup quickly and return to winning ways in their next fixture. For Turku, this was the kind of dominant home performance that builds confidence and momentum as the season progresses.
