Ladefoged and Baggesen secure home victory for Västerås

Västerås started with intensity and made their dominance count early. The home side won a penalty in the eighth minute, and Mads Ladefoged stepped up to convert, giving the hosts a dream start. The opening quarter descended into a scrappy affair with multiple cautions handed out, suggesting both teams were willing to get stuck in physically. Yellow cards flew for Igonen, Baggesen, Taranis, Ladefoged, Diagne, Fritzson, and Sundgren as the match became increasingly fractious.

Degerfors offered little in response and found themselves struggling to create genuine chances against a well-organised Västerås side. The away team's defence looked brittle and vulnerable as the first half progressed. Despite some commitment shown in the middle of the pitch, they never seriously threatened to equalise. The visitors came closest to threatening the scoreline through moments of attacking play, but lacked the cutting edge required at this level.

Västerås extended their advantage in the 54th minute when Mads Baggesen finished clinically to make it 2-0. The second goal appeared to have settled the contest, though Degerfors continued battling without ever looking like they would breach the home defence. Netabay and Dzabic picked up late bookings for the visitors as frustration mounted. The closing stages saw Västerås comfortably seeing out the win.

The victory keeps Västerås pushing up the table with an impressive home record, while Degerfors face questions about their defensive frailties ahead of upcoming fixtures.
