Bennett double et assure la victoire à Switchbacks face à Miami

Colorado Springs came into the match against Miami FC looking to build on recent form, and the home crowd at Weidner Field created an intense atmosphere from the first whistle. Miami arrived with intensity of their own but found themselves up against it early, with goalkeeper Giovanni Maddoni picking up a yellow card in the opening minute that set the tone for a feisty contest. The Switchbacks controlled much of the first half, while Miami struggled to gain a foothold despite their early warning.

The visitors continued to pick up cautions as the match wore on, with Rolando Tori and Eduardo Room both cautioned in the 29th minute as Miami's frustration grew. Angelo Milesi added another yellow for the away side just ten minutes later, and when Brandon Creek saw yellow for Colorado Springs in the 41st minute, it was clear the referee had a firm grip on proceedings. The first half ended goalless, but there was a sense that Colorado Springs was building towards something, even as Miami refused to go away quietly.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 79th minute when Kelvin Bennett found the back of the net to give the Switchbacks the lead they deserved. Bennett wasn't finished either, adding his second goal right at the death in the 90th minute to seal a comprehensive victory. Miami's Giovanni Diaz picked up a late yellow card in the 76th minute as the visitors' frustration boiled over, but they had no answer to Bennett's clinical finishing when it mattered most.

The win moved Colorado Springs closer to the upper reaches of the Championship standings and demonstrated their ability to grind out results against physical opposition. Bennett's brace will have impressed the coaching staff, while Miami will need to regroup quickly and find their rhythm after a difficult night on the road. The Switchbacks showed the character required to win tight matches, and this 2-0 victory should provide genuine confidence heading into their next fixture.
