Rowles asegura la victoria mientras DC United supera a Toronto

DC United made the perfect start to their evening under the lights at Audi Field, taking the lead through Kellyn Rowles in the 41st minute. The home side controlled large portions of the first half and looked comfortable in possession, with the crowd firmly behind them as they pushed for an early advantage. Toronto came to Washington looking to frustrate their hosts, but found themselves trailing at the interval after failing to test the DC defence consistently.

The second half brought fresh impetus from Toronto, who came out with renewed intensity and managed to level the match through Talén Corbeanu in the 76th minute. The goal sparked a period of genuine uncertainty in the DC United ranks, and the visitors sensed they could push on for a winner. Lukas Munteanu was cautioned for DC in the 53rd minute as tensions occasionally boiled over, while late in the game Jesús Osorio picked up a yellow card for Toronto's part in a heated exchange.

Despite Toronto's improved display after the interval, DC United weathered the storm and found another goal to take the lead once more. The home team's composure during the final stages proved decisive, even as Toronto threw bodies forward in search of an equaliser. Eight minutes of stoppage time were added, and though Toronto pressed hard, they could not find another breakthrough before the final whistle.

The victory marks an important three points for DC United in their push up the standings. Toronto will feel they deserved something from the match after their second-half performance, but ultimately couldn't find the clinical finishing required. DC United can now look ahead with confidence, while Toronto heads back north knowing they showed character but came away empty-handed.
