Jeju SK snatches away victory against ten-man Gwangju
Gwangju FC came out firing and took the lead through Jung Jeong in the 10th minute, with the home crowd sensing an opportunity to climb the K League 1 table. The early goal gave the hosts momentum and belief, but Jeju SK refused to be intimidated on the road. The visitors grew into the contest as the first half progressed, gradually finding their rhythm against a Gwangju side that showed attacking intent but lacked defensive solidity.
Jeju SK levelled matters just before the interval when Jo Oh found the back of the net in the 40th minute, drawing the away support to their feet. The goal represented a significant shift in the match's complexion, and it came at a crucial moment for the visitors. Gwangju's hopes of securing all three points took a major blow in the 56th minute when Kyou Choi received a straight red card for serious foul play, reducing the hosts to ten men and fundamentally altering the contest's balance.
Playing against ten men, Jeju SK dominated the closing stages and pressed relentlessly for a winning goal. Gwangju fought hard to contain the visitors despite their numerical disadvantage, but their task proved insurmountable as fatigue and pressure mounted. Kim Ki-Min delivered the decisive blow in the 90th minute, firing home to secure a 2-1 victory and cap off a strong away performance that showcased Jeju's resilience and clinical finishing.
The defeat leaves Gwangju with work to do in their push for the top of the table, while Jeju SK took a significant step forward with this hard-earned three points on the road. Gwangju's discipline issues, highlighted by the red card incident, will be a concern for their coaching staff heading into the next fixture. Jeju's ability to capitalize on their numerical advantage in the final stages proved the difference between the two sides in what was an entertaining encounter.
