Bishop Auckland demolish Spennymoor in one-sided friendly
Bishop Auckland made a commanding start to their friendly fixture, establishing control from the opening moments against a Spennymoor Town side that struggled to impose themselves on the game. The home crowd sensed opportunity early, and the hosts pressed high with purpose throughout the first half.
G. J. Martin broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, giving Bishop Auckland the perfect platform to build on. The goal settled any early nerves, and the hosts continued to dominate possession. T. A then extended the advantage before the interval with a well-taken finish on 35 minutes, leaving Spennymoor trailing by two at the halfway stage.
The second period saw Bishop Auckland maintain their intensity and clinical edge. Two further goals followed in quick succession around the hour mark, with strikes arriving in the 60th and 64th minutes to put the game beyond doubt. Spennymoor offered little resistance in response, and their defence looked increasingly stretched as the match wore on.
The 4-0 victory represented a convincing showing for Bishop Auckland ahead of their competitive campaign. While friendlies matter less than league business, this level of performance and efficiency will give the home side considerable confidence. For Spennymoor, the heavy defeat suggests significant work remains before they face serious tests in their own schedule.
