Clermont and Quevilly Share Spoils in Summer Friendly
Clermont Foot hosted Quevilly-Rouen Métropole on 22 July in a friendly designed to build match fitness ahead of the new season. Both sides approached the fixture with serious intent, keen to work through their pre-season preparations with meaningful opposition. The contest had the feel of a proper match rather than a casual runout, with neither team content to simply go through the motions.
Quevilly struck first when they found the net in the 47th minute, settling into the second half with immediate intent. Clermont responded well to falling behind, and their equaliser came as a just reward for sustained pressure. The goal breathed new life into the hosts and set up a compelling second half battle between two ambitious Ligue 2 sides.
The match remained tightly contested throughout, with both teams creating chances but neither able to find a winning goal. Clermont pressed hard in search of victory, while Quevilly defended resolutely and looked dangerous on the counter attack. The intensity rarely dropped, though neither side could quite find the breakthrough moment that would have settled matters.
The 1-1 draw served both teams well as they continue their preparation for the campaign ahead. Clermont will be pleased with their response to going behind, while Quevilly showed they remain competitive at this level. Both clubs can take positives from a spirited encounter that suggested their squads are developing nicely ahead of the serious business to come.
