Le PSV remporte une victoire à l’extérieur à Excelsior dans un thriller du week-end d’ouverture

PSV Eindhoven made their intentions clear from the opening whistle, establishing early control at Excelsior's ground. Rayo van Bommel's fifth-minute strike gave the visitors an immediate advantage, putting the home side under immediate pressure. Excelsior responded with characteristic grit, but struggled to carve out clear opportunities against a well-organised PSV defence.

The momentum shifted decisively in the second half when Excelsior found their equaliser. Casper Widell levelled proceedings in the 54th minute, drawing the home crowd back into the contest and setting up a tense finale. Just two minutes later, PSV restored their lead through Raul Pepi, who struck to make it Excelsior 1-2 PSV Eindhoven. That quick turnaround proved decisive, as Excelsior could not muster another breakthrough despite pressing hard in the closing stages.

PSV controlled the closing minutes with composed defending, denying Excelsior the space they needed for a second equaliser. Jorn Plug earned a yellow card in the 88th minute as tensions rose, but the visitors held firm through five minutes of added time. The away victory handed PSV a strong opening to their campaign.

The result bodes well for PSV's title ambitions, though Excelsior will feel they had the quality to take something from the match. Both sides have work to do as the season develops, but van Bommel and Pepi's clinical finishing proved the difference here.
