Penalty de Paciência scelle la victoire à l’extérieur de Santa Clara

Académico Viseu FC 0-1 Santa Clara proved a tight, cautious affair from the opening whistle. The home side started with intent but struggled to create clear-cut chances against a disciplined Santa Clara defence. Yellow cards came early, with Académico Viseu FC's R. Pereira cautioned in the 12th minute as both teams set out their territorial stall.

The decisive moment arrived just two minutes later. G. Paciência stepped up from the penalty spot in the 14th minute and converted with clinical precision, giving Santa Clara the lead they would not relinquish. The nature of the goal, a penalty rather than a flowing move, somewhat defined the match's character, with neither side willing to take undue risks.

Santa Clara defended their advantage with a measured approach thereafter. Sorriso picked up a booking in the 36th minute as the visitors held firm, while Académico Viseu FC pressed without breaking through. The second half saw further cautions for P. Pacheco and G. Romão as the match grew fractious, though neither team generated the kind of sustained pressure that might have changed the scoreline.

The arrival of four minutes of added time offered one last chance for the home side to force an equaliser, but Santa Clara's rearguard stood resolute. The away victory moves Santa Clara up in the standings and provides early season momentum, while Académico Viseu FC face questions about their attacking potency after failing to trouble the goalkeeper across the ninety minutes.
