تورونتو إف سي يتفوق على الثورة بفوز فوضوي على أرضه

Toronto FC secured a hard-fought home victory over New England Revolution on Friday night, though the match turned on the back of an own goal that handed the hosts an unlikely lead. The contest was tightly contested from the outset, with neither side able to establish clear dominance in the opening stages. New England's B. Raines picked up an early yellow card in the 25th minute, a sign of the physical nature the fixture would take on as it progressed.

The breakthrough came in controversial fashion just before half-time when W. Sands turned the ball into his own net in the 43rd minute, gifting Toronto FC a 1-0 advantage. Rather than settle the hosts, the chaos continued right up to the interval. N. Dorsch made it 2-0 at the stroke of half-time in the 45th minute, doubling Toronto FC's cushion and appearing to have put the match beyond New England's reach.

Everything changed dramatically when Đ. Mihailović received a straight red card in the 76th minute, reducing Toronto FC to ten men with a quarter of an hour still to play. The numerical disadvantage immediately tested the hosts' resolve. New England capitalized on the numerical advantage when W. Harris pulled one back in the 90th minute, sparking a tense finale that stretched into five minutes of stoppage time. W. Zimmerman's yellow card for Toronto FC in the 74th minute highlighted the mounting tension as both sides scrapped for every loose ball, but the hosts held on despite the pressure.

Toronto FC's victory came at a cost, with the early dismissal of Mihailović leaving them vulnerable in the closing stages. The home side will take the three points but know they rode their luck at times, particularly in that frantic final period. New England's failure to capitalize on their numerical advantage proved costly, as they left empty-handed despite their late rally.
