Benfica desmonta Casa Pia com uma demolição fora de casa com sete gols

Benfica came to the Casa Pia Stadium and immediately took control. Gianluigi Prestianni opened the scoring in the third minute, and the visitors never looked back. Roberto Silva doubled the lead eleven minutes later to give Benfica a commanding grip on the match before half-time.

The second half became a procession. Vassilis Pavlidis announced himself as the star of the show with a hat-trick, finding the net in the 47th, 49th, and 54th minutes to turn the contest into a complete mismatch. An own goal from Léo Ofori in the 58th minute added further misery to Casa Pia's afternoon, before João Durán closed out the scoring in the 61st minute. The final scoreline read Casa Pia 0-7 Benfica, a result that exposed significant defensive frailties in the home side.

Casa Pia offered virtually nothing going forward and paid the price for surrendering possession so easily in midfield. Benfica's attacking movement was fluid and relentless, with Pavlidis in particular exploiting space with predatory finishing. Yellow cards for Sergi Pérez and Kaly late in the contest only underlined how thoroughly the home side had been outplayed.

This away victory sends a powerful message from Benfica to their rivals in the Portuguese top flight. Casa Pia, by contrast, faces serious questions about defensive organisation after conceding seven goals in a single match. The gap between title contenders and mid-table sides looked vast on this evidence.
