Duplo de Becher afunda Earthquakes enquanto City domina

St.Louis City arrived in California with clear intent and showed it from the opening minutes. Dan Edelman broke the deadlock in the eighth minute, handing the visitors an early advantage that set the tone for what would become a dominant away performance. San Jose struggled to find their rhythm in the opening exchanges, and the damage was compounded when Becher extended the lead in the 27th minute to give City a commanding two-goal buffer at the halfway point.

The hosts emerged with renewed purpose after the interval and pulled one back through B. Leroux in the 47th minute, giving themselves brief hope of a comeback. That lifeline proved short-lived. Becher struck again just eight minutes later to restore City's two-goal cushion at 1-3, effectively ending San Jose's realistic chances of salvaging anything from the match. The second goal from the City forward was the moment the game was truly settled.

St.Louis City controlled large periods of play and limited San Jose to sporadic chances despite the home crowd's backing. The visitors' defensive discipline remained intact even as the match wore on, with only routine bookings disrupting the flow in the latter stages. Yellow cards went to C. Wallem, T. Werner, R. Roberts, and T. Totland between the 77th and 84th minutes as both teams made their frustrations known.

This was a comprehensive away win that moves St.Louis City up the standings and leaves San Jose with questions to answer at home. The Earthquakes will need significant improvement if they are to turn around what has become a difficult run. For City, the road performance demonstrated their growing threat as a serious playoff contender.
