San Diego surprend LAFC avec une pénalité tardive à l’extérieur

Los Angeles FC and San Diego FC served up a tense, competitive affair that remained goalless through 88 minutes, neither side able to break the deadlock at the home stadium. The hosts pressed for a breakthrough without ever truly threatening the visiting defence, while San Diego stayed disciplined and compact in their shape. Yellow cards accumulated as frustration grew, but neither team had found the killer pass or clinical finish to separate them.

The breakthrough came late and dramatically. In the 89th minute, San Diego FC won a penalty, and A. Dreyer stepped up to convert the spot kick and send the away side ahead where it mattered most. Los Angeles had precious little time to respond, and their hopes of salvaging something from the match disappeared entirely when Dreyer was sent off in the 90th minute for a second yellow card, leaving San Diego to see out the closing moments with ten men.

That red card summed up an afternoon where Los Angeles simply could not find a way through. Their attacking players lacked the precision needed to unlock San Diego's well-organised defence, and the hosts paid the price for that wastefulness. S. Heung-min also collected a late yellow card as LAFC chased the game without success, and they never seriously tested the San Diego goalkeeper in the dying moments.

Three points on the road represent exactly what San Diego came for. Los Angeles FC 0-1 San Diego FC leaves the hosts searching for answers at home, while the visitors head back south with a valuable away win that keeps their season on track.
