كانون ونافارو يضربان بينما يهاجم رابيدز سبورتينغ الذي يعاني من نقص في عدد اللاعبين

Sporting Kansas City arrived at Dick's Sporting Goods Park already on edge after S. Suleymanov collected an early yellow card. The visitors' discipline continued to crumble through the first half. Z. Bassong was cautioned in the 30th minute, but the real blow landed in the 38th when K. Agyabeng saw red, leaving Sporting with ten men for over an hour of football.

Colorado Rapids seized the advantage but did not find the breakthrough until the 65th minute, when R. Cannon broke the deadlock with a well-taken finish. The goal shifted the balance entirely, and Sporting's task became impossible when M. Mosquera was sent off in the 90th minute for a second bookable offence after earlier receiving yellow in the 88th. Down to nine players and staring at defeat, the visitors collapsed in the closing stages.

R. Navarro added the second goal in stoppage time to seal a comprehensive victory. The Rapids controlled large stretches of the match, but Sporting's self-inflicted wounds made the task far easier than it should have been. Two red cards in one match is a damning indictment of the visitors' temperament when facing adversity.

The win sends Colorado Rapids climbing the standings at home, while Sporting Kansas City must now contend with the fallout from a disastrous afternoon that saw discipline utterly abandon them. Manager decisions in the coming weeks will be shaped by this display of careless defending and inexplicable dismissals.
