Palermo avanza con una cómoda victoria sobre el Lecce, visitante

Palermo made light work of Lecce in the Round of 64, controlling the tie from start to finish at home. The hosts came out sharp and purposeful, intent on settling the contest early. Lecce offered little resistance in the opening exchanges, sitting deep and inviting pressure onto their shoulders from the start.

Davide Vavassori broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, giving Palermo the lead they thoroughly deserved at that point. The early goal appeared to settle any nerves, and the home side continued to dominate possession. Andrea Palumbo picked up a yellow card for Palermo in the 20th minute as the hosts pressed forward relentlessly, while Lecce's Lassine Coulibaly was cautioned just 15 minutes later for a foul as the away side struggled to gain a foothold. Jere Pohjanpalo doubled Palermo's advantage before the break with a goal on 42 minutes, and the hosts carried a commanding Palermo 2-0 Lecce advantage into the interval.

The second half saw Palermo manage the game with ease, content to see out the fixture without forcing the issue. Lecce never threatened to claw their way back into the contest, and any lingering doubt about progression was erased long before the final whistle. Palermo's defence stood firm throughout, keeping a clean sheet and ending any realistic hopes of a comeback from the visitors.

The result sees Palermo advance to the next stage of the competition with genuine conviction. Lecce's early exit comes as a disappointment for the away side, who failed to impose themselves on the tie at any stage. For Rosanero, the display provided an ideal platform to build momentum ahead of their next fixture, having dispatched their opponents with clarity and control.
