Lee y Baena aseguran una cómoda victoria en casa para el Atlético de Madrid

Atlético Madrid opened their La Liga season at the Metropolitano with a professional and controlled performance against Málaga CF. The hosts were clearly the dominant force throughout, controlling possession and dictating the tempo from the first whistle. Málaga offered little attacking threat and struggled to impose themselves on the game, leaving their backline exposed to sustained pressure.

The breakthrough arrived in the 70th minute when K. Lee found the net, finally converting the home side's dominance into a goal. Lee's finish handed Atlético Madrid a lead they had long threatened to take, and the goal visibly drained what little confidence Málaga possessed going forward. With the away side pushing for an equaliser that never looked remotely likely, Atlético Madrid capitalised on their vulnerability late in the game.

A. Baena extended the advantage to 2-0 in the 85th minute, putting the contest beyond doubt with a composed finish. By this stage, Málaga's resistance had crumbled entirely, and the visitors could offer no meaningful resistance to a second goal. Neither team produced anything approaching real drama or tension, the match always in Atlético Madrid's control.

The 2-0 victory delivered exactly what Atlético Madrid needed to begin their campaign, combining defensive solidity with clinical attacking execution. Málaga depart with nothing to show for their trip, their defending issues abundantly clear and their attacking options virtually non-existent. Atlético Madrid's next test will come when they travel away from home, but this assured opening performance suggests Diego Simeone's side are building nicely.
