إشبيلية تتغلب على نادي رياضي مكون من 10 لاعبين في بلباو

Sevilla made the journey to San Mamés and left with exactly what they came for. Athletic Club started as the home team with genuine attacking intent, but the contest was fundamentally altered in the 11th minute when Yuri Berchiche received a straight red card. From that point forward, Athletic Club were always fighting an uphill battle against a visiting side that showed clinical ruthlessness in taking their chances.

Oso broke the deadlock in the 15th minute, giving Sevilla an early advantage that would prove decisive. Athletic Club offered little resistance in the opening stages, and by half-time they were already in desperate territory. Sevilla extended their lead after the interval through Charly Ejuke on 50 minutes, then added a third through Iñigo Romero seven minutes later. Athletic Club's goal did arrive, with Álex Paredes pulling one back in the 70th minute, but by then the damage was done. Sevilla's three-goal cushion meant the final 20 minutes were a procession toward the away side's victory.

The dismissal of Berchiche transformed the match entirely. With a man advantage for 79 minutes, Sevilla's task became straightforward, and they executed their gameplan with a ruthlessness that Athletic Club could not match. After falling behind early, the home team never found a way back into the contest. The numerical disadvantage meant Athletic Club spent most of the second half chasing shadows rather than creating genuine openings.

Despite their dominance with the extra man, Sevilla did not simply roll over their opponents. They controlled possession intelligently and made their superiority count through three well-taken goals across both halves. Athletic Club, reduced to ten, managed only sporadic moments of attacking play and relied too heavily on set pieces and long balls to generate any threat. The gulf in class became increasingly apparent as the match wore on.

Discipline proved costly for Athletic Club, who saw three players booked alongside the red card. Sevilla's Miguel Sierra and J. Guridi also received cautions, keeping the contest competitive in terms of discipline despite the gulf in the scoreline. The closing stages saw both teams accumulate further bookings as tensions rose in the closing minutes. This result leaves Athletic Club with work to do after a difficult start to their season, while Sevilla have established themselves as genuine contenders with a statement away performance.
