Montréal et Galaxy partagent leurs butins lors d’un tirage au sort divertissant
CF Montréal and LA Galaxy served up an engaging contest that ebbed and flowed throughout, leaving both sides with valid claims to victory but neither able to land the decisive blow. The hosts came out of the blocks briskly and struck first through Diego Rios in the 16th minute, only for the Galaxy to respond three minutes later when Rafa Ramos levelled the affair.
The opening half belonged to the team that could finish cleanly. Rios had given Montréal the advantage early on, and they looked the sharper side in the opening exchanges. Yet Ramos arrived promptly to restore parity for Los Angeles, punishing Montréal for failing to consolidate their lead. The second half saw a significant shift in momentum when Mauricio Yoshida made it 2-1 to the Galaxy after the interval, seemingly putting the away side in control at 48 minutes.
Montréal refused to fold. Pablo Owusu restored parity with a crucial goal in the 79th minute, sparking renewed belief among the home faithful. At that point, neither team had built a commanding platform, and the introduction of attacking substitutes from both benches created space but also vulnerability. The game had become a contest of waves, with each side capable of hurting the other on the break.
A turning point of sorts arrived in the 68th minute when LA Galaxy goalkeeper J. Marcinkowski received his marching orders, reducing the visitors to ten men. The dismissal should have tilted matters firmly in Montréal's favour, yet the hosts could not convert their numerical advantage into a winner despite sustained pressure in the closing stages. Montréal's B. Craig was cautioned earlier in the same minute, adding a fractious edge to proceedings without fundamentally shifting the balance.
The 2-2 draw leaves both teams seeking their next opportunity to gather three points. For Montréal, the failure to beat ten men will sting, while LA Galaxy will take some satisfaction from securing a point on the road despite their dismissal. Neither side covered itself in tactical brilliance, but both showed the character to fight back when threatened, resulting in a share of the spoils that felt fair given the balance of play.
