Brentford écrase Tottenham dans une prestation impitoyable lors de la première journée

Brentford made an immediate statement in their season opener, dismantling Tottenham Hotspur with a performance of clinical finishing and defensive discipline. The home side controlled proceedings from the opening whistle, suffocating their visitors and converting their chances with ruthless efficiency to seal a 3-0 victory.

Kevin Lewis-Potter struck first in the 12th minute, giving Brentford an early foothold they would never relinquish. Vitaly Janelt doubled the advantage just before the interval with a second goal in the 33rd minute, putting the hosts firmly in command at half-time. Tottenham offered little resistance in either period, with Cristian Gallagher receiving a yellow card in the 34th minute as frustration began to set in.

The second half proved even more damaging for the away side. Myles Kayode added a third goal in the 49th minute, within minutes of the restart, to effectively settle the contest. Brentford's intensity and precision scarcely dipped after the break, while Tottenham looked bereft of ideas or resilience.

The gulf in quality was stark throughout. Brentford's shape remained compact and their transitions from defence to attack were sharp and purposeful. Tottenham, by contrast, struggled to build any momentum, their passing lacking conviction and their attacking play fragmented whenever they ventured forward.

The discipline shown by both sides reflected the nature of the contest. With only one caution issued across 90 minutes, the match remained free-flowing and uncluttered by controversy. For Brentford, this opening victory represents a perfect platform for their campaign, while Tottenham face urgent questions about their form and approach after a chastening afternoon on the road.
