Toney fires Al-Ahli to rout as Abha crumbles at home

Al-Ahli made their intentions clear from the opening whistle, and Abha had no answer to the home side's attacking intensity. The visitors arrived in Riyadh without the defensive shape needed to contain a resurgent Al-Ahli outfit, and the hosts punished them relentlessly. By the end of a one-sided first half, the contest was effectively settled.

Toney set the tone with two strikes in quick succession. He opened the scoring in the fifth minute to put Al-Ahli ahead, then doubled his tally from the penalty spot in the 13th minute after Abha conceded a needless foul in the box. The early damage proved terminal for the away side's hopes.

The second half merely confirmed what the opening 45 minutes had already established. Francisco Trincão extended Al-Ahli's lead to 3-0 in the 51st minute, and Toney completed his hat-trick six minutes later to make it 4-0. Abha offered minimal resistance throughout and never mounted a serious threat on goal.

Al-Ahli controlled large stretches of possession and dictated play from midfield. Their movement was sharp, their passing incisive, and their finishing clinical. Abha struggled to build any momentum and found themselves chasing shadows for the entire match, retreating deeper as the gap widened.

Ethan Spertsyan picked up a yellow card in the 41st minute, a minor blemish on an otherwise dominant display from the hosts. Al-Ahli managed the closing stages without fuss, their early superiority never threatened. The 4-0 scoreline represents a statement of intent from a team finding its rhythm early in the season.

The result moves Al-Ahli into a strong position at the top of the table. Abha, meanwhile, face serious questions about their defensive vulnerabilities and will need significant improvement before their next fixture.
