Gol tardio de Romano surpreende o Parma na estreia da Serie A

Parma and Cagliari began their Serie A campaigns with little to separate them through a cagey first half, though neither side managed to break the deadlock before the interval. The home side controlled periods of possession without creating clear-cut chances, while Cagliari defended resolutely and looked for opportunities on the counter. A goalless first 45 minutes set up what promised to be a tight contest in the second period.

The deadlock remained unbroken until the 79th minute, when Alessio Romano broke through to fire Cagliari ahead. His finish proved decisive in what had been a tightly contested affair. Parma pressed for an equaliser in the remaining moments but could not find a way past the visiting defence, leaving Cagliari to celebrate an away victory.

After the interval, Parma gradually increased their attacking pressure, sensing an opportunity to capitalize on home advantage. Cagliari weathered the storm and remained disciplined in their shape, frustrating the home side's attempts to penetrate. The contest remained finely balanced until Romano's decisive moment shifted the momentum decisively in Cagliari's favour.

Both teams showed tactical awareness throughout, with Parma attempting to build attacks from the back while Cagliari remained compact and organized. The visitors absorbed pressure well and remained dangerous on transition, though clear opportunities at either end proved sparse. Cagliari's defensive organization ultimately contained what Parma could muster, making the difference in a low-scoring encounter.

Cagliari's away success came despite early adversity, with Zinho Pedro picking up a yellow card in the 10th minute and Jacopo Fazzini cautioned in the 57th. Both sides managed their discipline reasonably well thereafter, avoiding any dismissals. Victory on the road provided Cagliari with an ideal start to the campaign, while Parma's failure to convert home advantage leaves them with work to do as the season progresses.
