Porto bat Arouca dans un match serré à domicile

FC Porto dominated possession without finding fluency in the opening period against a disciplined FC Arouca side. The home team controlled large stretches of the first half but struggled to create clear-cut chances, with Arouca's compact defensive shape frustrating Porto's rhythm. The visitors offered little going forward but remained organized and compact, content to absorb pressure and hit on the counter-attack when opportunities arose.

The breakthrough came in the 67th minute when Gonçalo Veiga found the net to put Porto ahead. That goal opened the game, and Porto added a second before the final whistle to seal a FC Porto 2-0 FC Arouca victory. Veiga's opener appeared to free Porto from the constraints of what had been a cagey contest, allowing the home side to press more aggressively in the closing stages and add gloss to their performance.

Porto's second-half adjustment was decisive. After a labored first 45 minutes where both teams cancelled each other out, the introduction of more attacking intent paid dividends once Veiga broke through. Arouca's rearguard, which had held firm until the 67th minute, could not maintain that discipline after conceding, and Porto ruthlessly exploited the space that opened up as the visitors committed more bodies forward in search of a reply.

The home side's midfield gradually asserted control as the match wore on, with Porto's tempo increasing noticeably after the interval. Arouca showed spirit in their approach and defended with commitment throughout, but they lacked the cutting edge to trouble Porto's goalkeeper on any regular basis. Porto's second goal underlined their superiority in the final quarter, where fresher legs and tactical adjustments saw them home comfortably.

Both teams remained disciplined throughout, with neither side seeing players dismissed or picking up excessive cautions. Porto managed the closing stages methodically once their lead was established, with Arouca's efforts to mount a recovery coming too late in the contest. The result sends Porto into their next fixture with momentum, while Arouca must regroup and look to bounce back from a difficult day on the road.
