Al Faisaly et Al-Fateh font match nul dans un affrontement enflammé en Saudi Pro League

Al Faisaly and Al-Fateh served up a fractious encounter that epitomised the competitive edge of the Saudi Pro League. The home side's evening would ultimately be defined less by what they created than by the manner in which they were undone by their own indiscipline, a narrative that took shape across ninety minutes of increasingly heated football.

Lukas Haraslín gave the visitors an early lead when he found the net in the 29th minute, a goal that sent Al-Fateh into the break with control of the match. Al Faisaly responded before half-time through Cedric Bassogog's strike in the 41st minute, which levelled proceedings and set up a tense second period. The first half had already featured cautions for both sides, with Tienou Bongonda cautioned for Al Faisaly in the 23rd minute, followed by yellows for Kwity Boateng and Abdou Seck in quick succession.

Everything shifted when E. A. Muwallad was sent off for Al Faisaly in the 58th minute, forty-five seconds after he had received a second yellow card at the stroke of half-time. Playing with ten men proved suffocating for the home side's attacking ambitions, forcing them into a defensive posture they could not escape. Al-Fateh sensed the advantage but lacked the cutting edge to punish their numerical superiority before the final whistle.

Al Faisaly's second-half collapse in personnel meant they spent most of the closing stages under siege, yet their depleted defence held firm when it mattered most. The away side pressed for a winner but found no breakthrough, with Al Faisaly's rearguard sufficiently organised despite the numerical disadvantage. Both teams had moments in the latter stages, though neither could fashion a clear path to victory.

The draw leaves both sides with work to do as the Saudi Pro League season progresses. Al Faisaly's disciplinary record cost them dearly, having surrendered control through unnecessary cautions and a red card that swung the contest. Al-Fateh will rue their inability to capitalise on their advantage, taking a point on the road when a win seemed within reach.
