Vardo Chanturishvili's 73rd-minute goal separated the teams through regular time, but Rangers refused to accept defeat. The Scottish visitors pressed hard through 90 minutes and beyond, searching for an equaliser that never came through open play.

Extra time produced no breakthrough. The match remained tight and tense, with neither side able to find the decisive second goal. Conditions grew increasingly fractious as the minutes ticked past 100, with Ales Rusek of Jablonec receiving a yellow card in the 101st minute and Rangers' Lyndon Shankland seeing yellow at 112 minutes.

The stalemate forced the issue to penalties. Jablonec converted their chances with greater composure, eventually triumphing 4-3 from the spot to claim their place in the next round.
