Cho et Johannesen propulsent Midtjylland contre Rijeka lors des barrages

FC Midtjylland made light work of their Conference League playoff assignment, dispatching HNK Rijeka with a controlled performance that yielded two goals and never looked in danger of slipping away. The Danish side dominated possession and created a platform for attacking play throughout the 90 minutes, with the visiting Croatian outfit unable to muster a genuine threat against a well-organised home defence.

Cho broke the deadlock in the 20th minute, giving FC Midtjylland an early foothold in the tie. The goal came from sustained pressure in the opening stages, and it proved decisive in shaping the match's trajectory. Johannesen then added a second after the interval with a strike in the 48th minute, effectively putting the contest beyond doubt and leaving Rijeka chasing the game with little hope of a meaningful response.

The second half belonged almost entirely to the hosts. Johannesen's early goal after the restart, coming just two minutes into the resumption, shifted the momentum decisively in Midtjylland's favour. Where the first 45 minutes had been cagey and measured, the period after half-time saw the home side control proceedings with growing confidence, leaving Rijeka increasingly isolated and struggling to build any attacking rhythm.

Both teams managed the game sensibly in the latter stages, with neither side taking unnecessary risks. Rijeka's discipline frayed slightly, with I. Ćubelić receiving a yellow card in the 36th minute and T. Fruk cautioned in the 50th. Midtjylland's S. Johannesen also picked up a booking in the 60th, though none of the cautions escalated into more serious trouble for either side.

The convincing nature of this victory moves FC Midtjylland into the next stage of the Conference League with genuine momentum. Rijeka, by contrast, will depart Denmark with plenty to consider about their attacking approach and defensive vulnerabilities. The two-goal margin suggests the hosts' quality and organisation proved too much for the visitors to overcome.
