Žalgiris resiste al Beşiktaş para avanzar a la Europa League

FK Kauno Žalgiris made the breakthrough in the first half and held their nerve to see out a narrow victory against Turkish visitors Beşiktaş JK. The home side's single goal proved enough to decide the playoff round encounter, with the final whistle coming at 1-0 to the Lithuanians.

Beşiktaş pressed hard throughout the second period in search of an equaliser but found the Žalgiris defence well organised and resolute. A. Kalik received a yellow card in the 28th minute as the match became increasingly competitive, though neither side could find the back of the net after the opening goal.

The away side created chances to level the score but failed to convert when it mattered most. Žalgiris' victory sends them through to the next round of the competition.
