Messi Stars as Inter Miami Overwhelm Montreal

Inter Miami went ahead in the 20th minute when Casemiro finished after T. Segovia's assist. Montreal pulled one back in the 37th minute through F. Herbers, assisted by N. Streit, but Inter Miami's afternoon was made easier two minutes later when L. Petrasso put through his own goal.

The hosts took firm control in the second half. Messi opened his account in the 52nd minute, then L. Suárez added a fourth in the 80th with Messi providing the assist. Messi struck again in the 83rd, this time assisted by R. De Paul, before Shaw made it six in the 89th minute. Messi completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute to seal a 7-1 victory over CF Montréal.
