St.Louis City started brightly and went ahead in the first minute when R. Navarro found the net. Portland levelled through K. Velde in the 32nd minute, but Navarro restored the visitors' lead just after the interval at 51 minutes.
The match looked set to slip away from Portland until K. Velde struck in the 89th minute, assisted by C. Bassett, to force a draw. Portland Timbers and St.Louis City shared a 2-2 draw after five minutes of stoppage time were added.
