Philadelphia Union demolish San Diego in five-goal away rout

Philadelphia Union ran out convincing winners with a 0-5 victory over San Diego FC. The away side went ahead in first-half stoppage time when C. Sullivan opened the scoring in the 45th minute, assisted by I. Vassilev. B. Damiani was booked for Philadelphia in the 27th minute, while N. Pierre and A. Alvarado Jr received yellow cards just before half-time.

Sullivan doubled the lead early in the second half, striking again in the 61st minute with Vassilev providing the assist once more. B. Damiani added a third for Philadelphia in the 67th minute, with F. Westfield credited for the assist. An own goal from A. Godoy in the 87th minute made it four, before M. Jakupovic completed the scoring in the 90th minute to seal the 0-5 win. O. Verhoeven was booked late on for San Diego as the home side offered little resistance throughout.
