Judd was shown a yellow card in the 30th minute as San Jose built a commanding 3-0 lead.
Portland Timbers pulled one back in the 86th minute when D. Da Costa scored with E. Izoita assisting, but it came too late to change the course of the match. San Jose Earthquakes held on for a 3-1 victory over Portland Timbers.
