Boschilia double fires Operário-PR past Grêmio Novorizontino
Operário-PR made the perfect start at home against Grêmio Novorizontino on a warm July afternoon in Ponta Grossa. The hosts came out with clear intent and purpose, setting the tone early and forcing their visitors into a reactive approach from the opening whistle. The atmosphere crackled with energy as the home crowd sensed an opportunity to pick up three points.
Gabriel Boschilia broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute, giving Operário-PR the lead they deserved at that stage. Grêmio Novorizontino, however, refused to lie down and levelled through Robson just 12 minutes later to bring themselves back into the contest. The goal sparked a shift in momentum, with both sides trading possession and opportunities as the first half drew to a close. The score remained level going into the interval despite Operário-PR's dominance.
The second half belonged firmly to the home side. Boschilia struck again in the 61st minute to restore Operário-PR's advantage and prove himself the difference maker on the day. Grêmio Novorizontino pushed forward in search of another equaliser but found Operário-PR resolute at the back. Reidiney picked up a yellow card for the visitors in the 51st minute while Pablo and Boschilia received cautions for the hosts as the match grew increasingly tense. Despite five minutes of stoppage time being added, Operário-PR held firm to secure a 2-1 win.
The victory keeps Operário-PR's promotion ambitions on track as they look to make a sustained push up the table. Grêmio Novorizontino will reflect on a performance that showed promise but ultimately lacked the cutting edge required to take something from the match. The hosts proved too clinical when it mattered most, with Boschilia's match-winning display sending the home supporters home satisfied.
