By that point, the contest was long settled and the home side coasted through the remaining minutes without any further alarms.

The 5-1 victory underlined Benfica's attacking depth and sharpness as they build towards the new season. For Belenenses, it was a sobering afternoon against the stronger opposition, though Bruninho's goal did at least provide a moment of pride in an otherwise disappointing outing.
