Groningue démolit l’ADO dans une déroute dévastatrice à l’extérieur

ADO Den Haag offered little resistance as FC Groningen's clinical finishing dismantled the home side on Saturday afternoon. The visitors controlled large spells of play and converted their chances with ruthless efficiency, exposing fundamental weaknesses in the hosts' defending. By the end, ADO Den Haag 1-4 FC Groningen told the story of a gulf in quality between the two sides.

Groningen struck first through Tobias van Bergen in the 15th minute, establishing an early foothold. Bjarni Darri Willumsson doubled the advantage just 15 minutes later to put the away team firmly in control. The damage was compounded before half-time when Dani van de Werff added a third on the stroke of 45 minutes, leaving ADO Den Haag with a mountain to climb heading into the interval.

ADO Den Haag's sole bright moment came through Yaro Eduardo's 55th-minute goal, which briefly threatened to spark a comeback. The home side's effort proved futile, however. Niklas Eggens sealed matters with a fourth goal for Groningen in the 81st minute, extinguishing any fading hopes of a home revival. Van de Werff picked up a yellow card in the closing stages as Groningen comfortably managed the final stretch.

This result sends a clear message about Groningen's early-season credentials. ADO Den Haag face urgent questions about their defensive structure and will need to regroup quickly if they hope to challenge for European football this term. Groningen, by contrast, head home with a clinical away performance that suggests they could be genuine contenders in this year's Eredivisie race.
