La pénalité de Guilherme tranche le duel de Houston contre le Galaxy réduit à dix joueurs

Houston Dynamo made the perfect start against LA Galaxy, forcing the issue from the opening exchanges. In the 21st minute, Guilherme stepped up to convert a penalty kick and give the hosts an early lead they would not surrender. The goal set the tone for a match that would grow increasingly fractious as the afternoon wore on.

LA Galaxy's task became significantly harder in the 58th minute when C. Garcés was sent off, reducing the visitors to ten men. That numerical disadvantage should have made Houston's job straightforward, yet the Dynamo failed to extend their advantage despite their superiority in possession and attacking threat. Instead, the home side's focus shifted to managing the game and protecting their slender margin.

The closing stages descended into chaos. I. Aliyu received a red card in the 90th minute for Houston, leaving both teams playing out the final stretch with depleted ranks. Yellow cards flew in late, issued to both Aliyu and H. Lozano as tempers frayed. Ten minutes of stoppage time did nothing to change the scoreline.

Houston Dynamo's 1-0 victory keeps them moving in the right direction at home, though they will need to tighten their discipline after that late sending off. LA Galaxy's numerical disadvantage from the 58th minute onwards may have cost them any realistic chance of salvaging a result, but they never found the breakthrough despite their efforts on the road.
